The Kitsch Hen - Creative lifestyle shoot, part 1
Do you ever struggle to know what to send a friend in need or a family member to tell them how much you love them? I know I do (or did) and would often resort to beautiful (yet sometimes slightly predictable) flowers-by-post. That was until I found Caroline and her beautiful business ‘The Kitsch Hen’. We’ve arranged to meet up in a few weeks time for what I know will be a brilliantly inspiring catch up and it reminded me that I still needed feature this beautiful lifestyle/branding shoot that we did together (or should I say two-part feature…..!)
Having worked together previously, Caroline and I had fun brainstorming this exciting shoot together and it quickly became clear that it would be best to design the day as a ‘split shoot’. The first part of the day would be based at her lovely, cosy bakery and would focus on Caroline at work and her gorgeous products (to give a ‘day in the life’ feel).
The second (which will feature here very soon), would be more ‘behind the scenes’ to give a window into Caroline’s life; more about her passions and what makes her tick. This would be based at Caroline’s home and on location near-by; places obviously super close to her heart.
I love seeing Caroline at work; she pours her heart and soul into her baking and it’s a complete pleasure to shoot. From the hand stamped messages on her biscuits, to the handwritten notes in each beautifully presented box, she showers each stage with love - I get such a buzz from picturing the loved-one, or person in need at other end of the biscuit-making process opening the box with a huge smile on their face and with their day completely made.
We aimed to show the various stages of the biscuit process and also Caroline herself. She has a strong (and beautifully warm and welcoming) presence on Instagram and she was keen to create lots of collateral for using there.
The wonderful thing about these fabulous biscuits is that they can solve the ‘I’m not sure what to send/use/take’ question for such a wide range of circumstances and occasions. I’ve seen them used beautifully as unique wedding favours, we’ve used them as thank you gifts for lovely teachers at the end of term and Caroline also designs such incredible edible treats for big corporate brands too; a Clarins moisturiser biscuit to celebrate a beauty business launch? No problem!
I can’t wait to show you more from behind the scenes of this brilliant heart-felt little business and about Caroline’s inspiration too…..more to follow very soon!
